Out of Character Game Thread: Plains of Lashon Campaign

Gentlemen:

Here is where I will post news and such about the campaign. I hope we can move on a nice even and stead pace. I would like to make this weekly but if the responses are not consistent we will move to bi-weekly.

I hope to get everyone into the story arc and have the campaign in full swing by sunday. I will make sure not to bore you with mundane happenings.

Please feel free to ask me what you want on this post here.

I will be posting up the first part of the campaign this Sunday night. You will have untill Friday to post a reply to the Sunday Night posting. If I get replies in sooner from everyone I will move on to the next action in the event.

So far we have Rhadomanthos, Venerable Preceptor, Peng, Varrius and Grapes

I will look over everyone's god starting this Friday. Talk to you guys soon.

Note: I have a new item on the character sheets called resources.

If you can think of anything else the character sheet needs let me know. Notes and extra items you should put in the other thread.

Perhaps splitting off a section for Heroes and Artifacts from "Active Miracles" would make sense? Most of us seem set to have at least one permanent hero, but Acitve Miracles might be something that will change a lot over time.

We are still at the beginning and I would like to get everyone involved. There is still time.

How readily can our deities talk with one another?

Passing on what I've learned would be nice, to say the least.

You guys are in a loose alliance and not sharing followers.

You could send someone over from your Celestial Realm to theirs, you should know where it is at no cost since miracles done in your heaven are free. So long as the miracle stays within that heaven and does not affect anything outside of it, it is free.

You could send a messanger instantly to the other gods in their celestial realms. Its like having IM capabilites. But you cannot go over and make peanut butter jelly sandwiches.

If you guys did not know each other (not in a loose alliance) you would have to discover each other first. But since it was declared a loose alliance you all have knowledge of each other.

On a further note: Please track all of your belief spent so far.

I will do a tally at the end of each season and make sure we are all honest.

There should be a bar on the character sheet where you can subtract from your total and readjust it.

What costs should we knock off for our heroes / artefacts? Initial creation, or yearly maintenance?

Upkeep is the only thing I charge for starting off. You get a freebie initial creation on the house as long as you pay for the upkeep yearly. Yearly upkeep is -1 to cost factor (not the base cost)

If you create any more miracles after this you will get the initial charge.

Ahh, good. I'm a little better-off than I thought.

Miracle queries:

I'm not sure if this'd be possible, but I was wondering about another Control/Knowledge miracle - one intended to give the Leviathan's servants the 'knowledge' that their target lies elsewhere, and that my temple and people are not the targets they should be focusing up on at the moment.

Ideally, I'd send them tramping all the way back to Fogbottom... but buying myself a bit more time for the cavalry to arrive could be good in any case.

As an alternative or extra effect - I could try implanting them with a belief that there's something masquerading as their master, and that they shouldn't listen to anything that sounds like an instruction from him.

Do either of these ideas make sense?

Yes,

There are a lot of tactical options available to you in this situaion.

1. You may disguise your village and have them skirt around it.

2. You may do a mind conflict with the Leviathan for the trapped spirits.

3. You may fool them, but remember they are being controlled so you still have to face down the leviathan.

There are other options and something to mull over for a couple of days.

Hopefully the other two gods will respond to your message in the forum.

I will update around Tuesday to give you guys some RP time together.

Yes but the miracle is already in effect to cause terror on your people.

Right now it is a simple d10 vs your d6. This includes the 20 lashon riders from the other tribe.

I would not give the leviathan a chance to add more terror to what he already has. He will put up another miracle to boost his worms.

That is what I recommend. Passing the Terror test and denying your enemy resources.

Yet another Miracle query from me:

Are there enough wild critters in my territory to use Animal Army on a Territory scale (so that the Household-scale enemy are four dice down on their test)? Preferably without permanently wrecking the eco-system, but that's not the top priority....

Yes there are enough animals since this is a fertile plain area. Probably lizards, some small mammals and a few other things.

Not sure if it would wreak havoc on the eco system but we can always find out later

PS If you want to create another miracle or alter the one you have now is the time. I will move forward by this time tomorrow.

Are the clay men in range to be pounced upon, when they come under attack from Haois's vines? If so, it'd seem a good point to have the animal horde attack - whether or not they're managing to struggle free, it's likely to inconvenience them at least a little.

They will be in range to strike on the next post after this miracle is done.

FYI Haois I will be PMing you about the miracle in a few hours.

I would like to see what the furry creatures will do

I hope Varrius will come back soon.

I'm worried that I'll have perpetrated furry genocide by sending them all to their doom. It's tempting to empower them all with miraculous armour, but I can't really spare the Belief, however fun it would be to unleash a glowing, angelic horde of little beasties.
