The words "London Architecture Festival" might make your heart sink as you see a stream of pointless events dreamed up by PRs to publicise various architect practices, but one must-see event is being held at the Mall Galleries.

Plainly entitled 50 Years of London Architecture 1960-2010, it is a sweeping photographic exhibition organised by the Architecture Club and covering 200 buildings in London starting with the likes of Centrepoint and Economist Building.

It has many glorious photos of the Modernist era that briefly took over London in the swinging sixties, before it progresses to the Post Modernism of Canary Wharf, and ends bang up to date with the likes of the zoomorphic futurism of 30 St Mary Axe.

Unfortunately it isn't running for long but the good news it's completely free. The exhibition starts on the 19th of June and continues until the 27th of June with the gallery open every day from 10am to 5pm.

Buildings on the Mall don't have street numbers but you can find the Mall Galleries next to the ICA on the northern side of the Mall just past Admiralty Arch with Carlton House Terrace around its back.
