Thoughts on a pantheon

I'm a little curious as to what you guys think is a typical pantheon? Also, I'm kind of curious as to what SHOULD go into a pantheon to make it more balanced and survivable in this game.

I'll post my thoughts in a little while.

Well, I think some things that a panthion needs are ballance (either having a single major thing in common, like moral allignment, or covering just about everything in a certain theme, like elements or attitude), a reason to stick togeather (All are friends, or at the very least rivals, or uniting against a threat none alone could survive), and most importantly, enough followers to go around.

The first thing we gotta consider is what most pantheons or our own real-life myth. What was it that our great, great, great, great anscestors from years past such as greek, roman, sumerian or even the pantheon of the hawiian tiki gods. Whether real or not these gods were all meant to provide for their pantheon things that they could not provide their own and in this game something they could not provide themselves without the help of another.

What is it the ancestors required?

1. Food
2. Something to protect them
3. Something to make them feel better about life
4. More children and families
5. Strength to crush their enemies
6. The power to progress through a greater age (bronze age, iron age, etc.)
7. The finest spices and things to trade
8. Water
9. To live a life free of fear and exposure

This in fact could be very well covered by all three of us ( If Khorne weren't so evil)

Protection is my game

The idea that they have something to fight for provides that they gather more belief, and not commit mass suicide.

More children and families would probably be my dept having the power of "Virtues" for instance the virtue of love.

Strength to crush their enemies would totally be Khornes department

Our progression could probably be Ga-Li

Got lots of crystals or any of us pretty much all of us can find spices or whatever

Water + Need = Ga-Li

Though I don't know about Khorne, Ga-Li and Haois can easily create a life free of war for those who hate it. Which all and every human kinda hates it. (No offense Khorne)

Now that we have 4 players, perhaps 2 villages with 2 gods each?

I've still got nothing against just having seperate villages in nearby territory though.

I can see what you have in mind though I don't know exactly about the Lord Ember character.

lord Ember is certainlly not opposed to a pantheon idea, but the idea that gods get along in a pantheon is a bit of a stretch. Some do and many do not. Often a gods worst enemy is his/her 'oposite' within the pantheon. Also, I am no pantheon expert, but I know that most of them have an 'all-father' god who keeps the peace. Examples that come to mind are Zues and Odin for starters. At either rate, Ember is no all-father type god and I would go so far as to say that our pantheon would have to be young indeed to have so few followers. We might be in the time when that 'all-father' person has yet to materialize.

As to Embers specific fit in a pantheon, Ember considers himself the very drive of humanity. The flame of life so to speak. Hence his secondary domain of passion. He is more than a fire god, that would be underselling his appeal and power. Fire is just a representation of the power of the deity and fire often represents passion as well. I do not invision him as some sort of war god, but given the proper motivation he could definently get into war (passion), but a war like Viet Nam was for us would not be his provence. He despices when the heart of the people is not 'in it'.

Ember

An all-father eh? Someone peek at my resume?

Sorry, you may have the title of light, But Ga-Li has no intention of following an all father until a ballance of gods is already formed. We would need gods of earth, stone, ice, and wind, in addition to the already existing ones of fire and water.

Ah but you forget my primary. Virtue. You can do practically anything with virtue, believe me. It practically covers everyone of the desires and such that can make it so wide and variant it's power is infinite. Though I'm not "technically" like that it is very father worthy item.

I understand that part, but I still stand by my statement that before an all father is chosen, the other elemental god positions must be filled. I know a guy, Ma-Tanui, god of life. Maybe he would be interested in being our all father...
