Here's a question while I'm waiting for the followers' book to come out. How would you scale the weapons of modern society into die types? Where does a tank shell rate? What about a nuke? Mustard gas? Automatic machine gun?

I'd scale it on how many people it can affect, so a tank maybe ten people, and a nuke civilisation size sort of thing.

I have been thinking about this as well, and honestly I would make it a relative scale. If both sides are using similar technology levels, the rules work fine. Ordinary riflemen = d6, veteran commandos = d8, etc.

Bombs/Artillery I would treat as a miracle attacking all tokens in the area with whatever strength you feel is appropriate, but I would keep it low. Historically bombs were more useful for taking out emplacements and infrastructure than wiping out tokens and artillery was never very accurate... more for morale destruction and the occasional kill.

A nuke, well... do you really need rules? A nuclear blast will wipe out ANYTHING mundane at ground zero, and by the game's rules nothing can penetrate a god's aegis unless it is supernatural in origin. So someone nukes your god, he'd be standing there annoyed with a radioactive wasteland around him no? I guess you could start it off at a d100 at ground zero and scale back as you get further out from the main blast. Not sure how you'd do radiation sickness.

For mechanized forces such as tanks, I would follow DarkServant's advice and have them count as more than 1 person in the battle.

I think the biggest difference is as the population scales up to the millions, the number of followers needed to generate a belief point should increase. Otherwise, you have deities with WAY too much belief, who think nothing of talking to their followers through fifty foot tall columns of fire. No Or those are the NPCs whom the PCs should hide from, developing miracles of nondetection for their followers, because the equivalent of a hard glare from one of the big ones will obliterate the deity and their followers entirely.

Actually if you think about how fractious and whimsical modern society is, it makes more sense for the gods to be quiet and subtle. These days we worship material things far more than any divine entity, who's to say that there isn't a god of starbucks? Maybe the god of Apple is leading a grassroots slander campaign against the god of Microsoft?
