I don't want to step on anyones toes or break any laws. If it matters I have posted in my game where the rulebook can be purchased, as well as links to here

OK, so I'm in the process of setting things up for a new NGoM campaign, and my wife has chosen to play a Goddess with her primary domain being "the Sky." Sounds pretty important, right? Well...

For whatever reason, I'm having a difficult time coming up with examples of miracles that could actually fall into the domain of the Sky. Most of the ones I think of would be better suited for domains like Weather, Water, etc.

Personally, I happen to think that Manipulation is a better word for what Control covers. It still doesn't quite convey the communicative aspect of Control, but neither does the word "Control", quite frankly.

Per the basic glance over information about the Salamanders and the Dragon Gods/ Elder Gods in general it appears that they consider Humanity a Pestilence of vermin and their Gods are respected at that level. If a Human God does something that say Destroys one of their encampments/villages/cities what would be their response. Now this is in retalliation for Salamander slavers stealing the deity and their allies followers.

The Size of a Territory

Hello everyone,

Right now I am working on a standardization for maps made for adventures in NGoM. There is not much to go by and the definitions vary on how many tokens can fit into a territory (Lush, Ample, Harsh etc.).

My idea is to keep this simple and state a territory is the distance a human adult can walk in one full day (12 hours). I have done some research and the number that keeps popping up with 3.5 MPH for an average person walking. This would make it 42 miles in a day. ...

When Large Numbers Are A DISadvantage

The basic game mechanic presumes that larger numbers are always an advantage in a conflict. This is certainly true MOST of the time, but not always. There are contexts when there is a distinct advantage to smaller numbers rather than larger.

The category that comes to my mind right now are conflicts in which one side wants to remain undetected: classic RPG 'thiefly' activities such as hiding, silent movement, picking pockets, etc. It's a whole lot easier to hide 1 person than 100.

If a god uses a miracle to give an average (d6 Body) individual in his tribe the strength of ten select men (d8 body) for the duration of one battle.

I'm pretty sure I've messed up somewhere. Creating a warrior of d10 is always Major (cost 5), whether I promote them from my warrior caste (d8), common people (d6), animals (d4), or a java bean (1) [although the java bean will need mind and spirit stats also]. I'm certain that I've missed something somewhere, shouldn't it be easier to augment the warrior than the java bean? (I *think* this is what dice shifts do, but not certain, just got off work...)

Also, is the base miracle Trivial ...

What prevents a deity of Animals from granting rabbits d4 Mind and d4 Spirit? Our 'genius' god of Mankind is trying to create a Bunny Belief Battery. His worshippers will breed like rabbits, granting him a profound increase in Belief basis.

If it were this simple, why haven't deities done this before? I've started threads in the Myths portion for potential drawbacks, the intention of this thread is to question whether the rules allow this manner of racial genesis. If so, we can drop ...

Sorcerers. Priests. Wizards. Psychics. Seers. By any name, they are the chosen few of the deity, those most able to call upon miracles.

Is this a heroic trait, allowing the mortals to invoke Belief without the approval of the deity? Or must the deity approve of and invoke the miracle? Is there a way to invoke a miracle 'on hold', activated when one's specialists call for it?

Again, I'm getting visions of multi-tiered miracles and seperate Belief pools, expended like batteries. ...

Okay, I've got a HUGE game balance question...

If I alter someone and want their children to inherit the miracle:

1) Is this possible? It would seem so, given the number of 'deity creates animal' myths.

2) Do I pay for a new miracle when the scale increases, or does the upkeep just increase?

3) Do I even pay for the children at all? (I'd say yes, but I've made mistakes before.)

4) Is the miracle as powerful as the original? If I have warriors who have to fight ...

I cast a framework miracle whose purpose is to be a permanent feature of the deity. In effect, it provides a secondary effect. The difference between transforming oneself into a porpoise and a miracle that allows me to change shape at will.

I think this should be an Advantage, something that increases the multiple rather than decreasing it.

My other thought is that maybe this sort of thing should only be allowed through artifacts. That way, there's always ...

This also begs the question of Celestial Artifacts, like a pack of spirit horses capable of carrying souls of the fallen to my Domain. (Not that horses are my theme, it's just a lot more passengers than a sky chariot.)

On the old forums it came to light that the Loss of Faith rules were missing from the NGHB.

The rules were quoted as:

Loss of Faith

If you spend less than 1 Belief per 10 followers to create Miracles that directly help them, you create loss of faith. Your followers believe you have abandoned them or are ignoring them. This year, they produce half their normal Belief (see “Gain Belief,” below).

Followers can suffer from loss of faith many years in a row—as long as you don’t spend enough ...
